A cold start but promise of sunshine encouraged a huge work party to assemble at Trebanos Locks. Bank was repaired and weeds were pulled. Dogs frolicked and cake was consumed. We even had a surprise visit from Mikk of the Waterway Recovery Group.

Firstly, concrete was mixed, bags were filled and barrowed down to the worksite.

Many hands made light (?) work of laying the bags. April the retriever lent a paw, a runway was installed to make life easier for our furred and feathered friends and even Mikk mucked in, although it looks like he could only manage a half-bag!

At the same time, the second string pulled out grassy clumps. Hard graft made a little easier as the grass was not rooted too firmly. Longer drag forks would have come in handy. The spoil will be left to drain for a week so all the wildlife can slither back into the water. Next week it it will be barrowed away for composting.

Time for tea and a chat, in lovely warm sunshine.

A truly enjoyable and productive session in glorious autumn sunshine.109 bags were laid and loads of grass removed. Same place, same time next week!
