Glandŵr Cymru informed us recently that Ebsford Environmental started the vegetation clearance on the Swansea Canal at Clydach on Monday 22nd February. This in advance of proposed dredging in the autumn.

Works are mainly on the off-side between the canal terminus at Pont John and Clydach Mond Lock, but will include some works above the lock and at the proposed unloading area at the boundary with Players Yard. The footpath will remain open with appropriate safety measures in place.

Here are a few photos taken on Monday. A vast improvement already. It is immensely pleasing to see that this southern stretch of the canal will be brought back to navigable standards. The Society is still not permitted to work as volunteers on the canal but we will be back soon.
