The Swansea Canal Society hosted another ShePaddles and U girls session on the 2nd June.

In the morning, a group of seven ladies went on the water. They were assisted by CanoeWales and Swansea Council instructors, on their chosen crafts, either SUPs or kayaks. The weather was kind to them, warm but overcast. When they’d finished, and had been debriefed, they were ready for refreshments, laid on by the Friends of Coed Gwilym Park.

In the afternoon, nineteen U girls of ages 11 to 16, took to the water, in light rain. They tried out canoes, kayaks and SUPs, to see which they preferred to paddle. Unfortunately the heavens opened up, but this did not deter them. The hot chocolate and snacks helped to warm them up.

A very successful day, thanks to CanoeWales, Swansea Council, Friends of Coed Gwilym Park and the volunteers of the Swansea Canal Society canoe hire team.
