Another gloriously sunny day saw a modestly sized group of volunteers undertake work starting from the Hidden Lock site. This blog is also modestly sized as your cub reporter failed to take sufficient photos!

Two of the “Hapus i Siarad” / “Happy to Chat” benches were installed alongside the canal in Trebanos. The photos show Gordon securing the benches to their bases and, most importantly, the first of the benches being put to very good use by its first visitor, Beatrice.

Weeding north of Clydach Mond lock continued, with last week’s piles being taken to the compost heap and yet more weed being pulled out. One more week should see the end of this labour-intensive task.

Martin, Sue and Yun Yun worked on the native plants garden. Here the ladies tidy up after a hot session in the sun.

Finally, we welcomed Year 6 learners from Gellionen School to the canal. A dozen kids had a lovely time paddling up to Trebanos and back. They also invented the sport of canoe water polo!

So, another busy day under on and off the water for our band of fantastic volunteers. We were particularly pleased to be able to set in place two of the benches, after a very long delay.
