Another glorious day saw the volunteers working at two sites. The construction party was on the canal alongside the Riverside Community Space just north of Pontardawe. The major task was to rebuild a stretch of wall by Bridge 8. Gordon and Andrew headed up the mixing team, Bob transported the bags and Dave, Alan T and others made good the old wall, that was underwater, before laying the bags in place. What an improvement!

Martin, Pete, Toby, Steve and Andy busied themselves cutting back vegetation from the banks.

Kath and Alan W cleared weeds from the bridge.

Anna checked out the hedges that had been laid earlier in the year by Sue and John D. Somewhat to the surprise of the first-time hedgers, most of the branches were growing vigorously, as were the willow whips planted by Martin, Paul and Alan T.

John G fixed the light on the trailer.

Time for tea and and a chat. Yun Yun was the week’s baker.

Meanwhile in Coed Gwilym Park, the boating team lead by Mike and Ronnie organised canoes and kayaks for Mabel’s walking group. Sue sold lots of craft items made by our crafty volunteers.
