The Ethel and Gwynne Morgan Trust

The Trust has supported generously the Swansea Canal Society on several occasions over recent years. Brian Morgan tells us “The Trust was set up in early 1990s by my brother Hugh and funded by legacies from my father, Gwynne, my mother Ethel, and later my brother Hugh. The aims are to help charities and organisations within Wales and especially Clydach and the wider remit for education, medicine and the church. The trustees are Lindsay, myself and the next generation, Helen, Richard and Beth who manages its affairs. Robert has an interest but is not at present a Trustee as his home is in New York”. The Morgans and the Trust are generous benefactors with a special willingness to support the local community.

In recognition of the Trust’s support, the Society decided to offer it honorary membership and at last, after a prolonged delay caused by the pandemic, we were able to make a small presentation. Here we see our chairman, Gordon Walker, and Brian Morgan, who writes “It was great to have the presentation of the framed certificate of the Honorary Corporate Membership of the Swansea Canal Society last Tuesday. I have taken it to show the Trustees and then will return it for safe keeping to Lindsay. We are so pleased to be able to help the wonderful work that you are doing”.

The Society is so grateful for the financial support provided by the Trust. Its willingness to support the community of Clydach is particularly appreciated.
