The Canal and River Trust is dredging the canal between the Mond bridge and Pont John in Clydach. Access is restricted so here are a few long distance photos of the action. The silt is loaded into small, motorised wheelbarrows that are trundled down the towpath to a holding site where the National Cycle Route 43 leaves the towpath, just upstream of Pont John. The silt is then transferred to lorries for transport to a secure dump site in Cardiff.

The Society is indebted to CRT for carrying out this much needed work. CRT and the Society apologise for the temporary closure of the towpath. We hope that the work will be completed by the end of November. We are indebted to Dave Lang for the first of the photos.
