Dear Supporter,

You are invited to participate in a consultation conducted by Swansea Council:

Have your say: The UK Shared Prosperity Fund

This consultation invites the views of everyone with an interest in the way UK SPF is to be used. It does not matter whether you were previously in receipt of EU funds or not, or whether you’re responding as an individual or on behalf of an organisation.

The UKSPF is the main source of funding being made available to replace the European Regional Development Fund and European Social Fund that are no longer available following the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union, though it is not a direct like-for-like replacement.

Many organisations throughout Swansea made use of EU funds and will therefore be interested in helping Swansea Council decide how the UK SPF should be used over the next three years.  Other people and organisations will have their own views.  All are invited to respond to this consultation.

The consultation, together with comprehensive further information, is available at:

Of course, the views you express must be your own but we have identified these themes as being of particular interest to the Swansea canal Society:

“Creation of and improvements to local green spaces, community gardens, watercourses and embankments, along with incorporating natural features and biodiversity improvements into wider public space.”

“Enhanced support for existing cultural, historic and heritage institutions that make up the local cultural and heritage offer, including improvements to access to sites to counter the effects of isolation, particularly for older people and disabled people.”

“Funding for impactful volunteering and/or social action projects to develop social and human capital in local places.”

“Funding for local sports facilities, tournaments, teams and leagues, to bring people together.”

“Funding to support relevant feasibility studies.”
