The hardest work was to clear vegetation. We were pleased to welcome Cilybebyll Community Councillor Joanne Todd, who took the time to chat to the volunteers and thank them for their hard work. Two of the volunteers were Pontardawe Town Councillor John Owen Jones and our chairman, Swansea City Councillor Gordon Walker. It is most rewarding to see see these elected representatives working so hard for the community.
Here are just a few photos of the volunteers in action. “Nellie” was used both to access the weeds and to transport them to the bank.

I came over from Wiltshire the next day (31st August) to cycle along the canal from the Canal Visitor Car Park, up to Pontardawe, and was really impressed by what I saw. It was a glorious sunny day, and the canal was looking great.
There is so much potential here. I was surprised at how much of the canal remains in water, probably more so than the Wilts & Berks near where I live.
Keep up the good work. I hope you’re able to restore through the old council yard soon, and create a greater length in water.

Thank you for your kind words that mean so much to our volunteers.
