An Important Announcement From The Men’s Shed Clydach
S P E A C SUICIDE PREVENTION FOR EVERYONE ACROSS COMMUNITIES |
My name is Belinda and I run Men’s Shed Clydach. The Shed was recently involved with the Baton of Hope walk in Cardiff, a national campaign to support suicide prevention. The Shedders and I were so moved by the stories we were told on the walk that we felt it was important for us, as a Shed, to try and do something to raise awareness of suicide in our communities. On Saturday July 29th the Shedders are going on a walk. We have called it SPEAC because that is what we need to do. Speak more about the epidemic that is suicide, which is in all communities. The walk will start at the Shed at 11am. We will walk along the canal path to Coed Gwilym Park. Walk through the park and back out on to the pavement. Cross the road at the crossing, walk along the pavement, passing the Shed. Cross the road at the Shed then follow the main road through Clydach to the Vardre Rugby Club. There will be complimentary tea, coffee, and cake in the back room of the club. Bring a packed lunch if you wish. We are happy for you to join us and do the whole walk, join us somewhere on the way or just go to the Vardre Rugby Club by 12.15pm. It would be lovely to meet you and chat over a tea/coffee. Alternatively, if you want to show your support as we walk, you can clap us through the park and the village or toot your horn and cheer if you see us. The more people we have supporting this cause, the more people we have that will talk about suicide means that more help will become available for those who need it. Please show your support for SPEAC and let us work together to save lives in our communities. Information and support will be available on the day at Vardre Rugby Club. ALL PARTICIPANTS ON THIS WALK AKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY DO SO VOLUNTARILY AND ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN HEALTH AND WELFARE. Many thanks, Belinda Gardiner |
