How Much Foam in a Fire Extinguisher?

How Much Foam in a Fire Extinguisher?

[singlepic id=1104 w=320 h=240 float=center]

Nine members of the Swansea Canal Society plus Rick and Cassie from CRT attended a First Aid, Fire and Water Safety Course at the Riverside Arena building last Thursday. Andy, our instructor, an ex squaddie from Blackburn, was a most entertaining and experienced teacher.
When the rains stopped we went outside to have a go at using a fire extinguisher. The photo shows Gill grappling with the beast as the imaginary flames take hold. And if you think that there is enough foam in one that size to last six minutes (like I did) then think again. You get 28 seconds of the stuff. A salutary lesson.

With the changes in CPR procedure, we were also able to try these out out on the dummies provided (not those in the picture, of course). A very worthwhile course.
