“Pirates in the Park”, Sunday 27th August 2023

It was a busy day as there were over 150 people who went on a boat on the canal. The boats ranged from single Kayaks to Rafts (two canoes tied together). All of the Canadian Canoes, and Double Kayaks were out on the water.

Many kids and adults entered into the spirit of the day, turning up dressed, and made up as pirates.

The day was very well attended, with all participants enjoying the event, and no one having to walk the plank.

The Canal Society had a craft stall selling items made by Jan W and raising a magnificent £90. Captain JOhn was on hand to demonstrate the dark arts of bridge building.

The Heritage Centre and Friends of the Park in the Pavilion also had very good days.

We are most grateful to COAST Grant Funding 2023 for funding the event with a most generous grant.
