THE WEEK AHEAD: 3.10.14.

Sunday, 5th October: The Canoe Facilities have been booked for a little girl’s birthday party for 1.00pm to approx 2.30 pm. We will be setting up from 12.00pm. We will need as much help as we can muster. All welcome.

Monday, 6th October: Cassie Ward, Volunteer Co-ordinator, and Laura Lewis, Public Affairs Officer Wales, both of Glandwr Cymru will be meeting us at the Clydach Heritage Centre, Coed Gwilym Park at 10.00 am. This is Laura’s first visit to the Swansea Canal.She is involved with the continued protection of the route of the canal. We will be passing on copies of the original route of the canal to her.

Tuesday, 7th October: Work Party. Meet at Brownsters Cafe, High Street, Clydach between 8.15 and 9.10am or meet at the work site at 9.30 which is the off side of the canal north of Pont John Bridge, Clydach. We will be clearing vegetation using our brushcutters as well as dragging the duck weed and Canadian Pond weed from the channel. We welcome Kathryn Britton from Keep Wales Tidy at noon. She is collecting the Bernard Jones Memorial Trophy which we won in January 2014. Alan and Andy are busily preparing our application for the 2015 awards.
