Work and Canoe Parties: 5th June.
We worked at several places today. At the canoe store the hectic pace of the last day of the Go Canoeing Week on June 3rd had meant that the canoes and kaykas had not be been thoroughly cleaned before being stored away. Gill, Ronnie, Mike, Jaqueline, and Rabbie spent the morning getting everything ship, craft, and canoe shape.
A little further on up the canal Gareth and Alan used the drag forks to clear the Canadian Pond Weed which is a hindrance to paddlers.
Way down south at Pont John Bridge we rescued two working bikes with Mike using using a grappling iron to good effect.
At the terminus of the existing Canal, south of the Clydach Aqueduct, Toby took his petrol mower down to clear the stone barge monument.
The canal here is covered in blanket weed and we were pleased to meet Colin, the new Manager of the Players Industrial Estate, in Brownsters this morning, as he is keen to help us make this part of the canal more attractive. We look forward to working with him.
