Work Party: Tuesday 14th May 2024
A pleasant day today – no rain, not over-warm. The volunteers assembled at Bridge 8 as arranged but had to abandon plans to reinforce more of the bank as the stone dust had not been delivered. Undaunted, we soon found plenty to do. Andrew, making a very welcome return, Chris and Rowan sloped soil down to the bags laid last time we were on site. Once nature takes over to re-green the bank, our repair work will be invisible. |
Alan W, Martin and Gareth planted willow and other saplings to extend the hedge. Gordon assisted by cutting willow poles that were used to obstruct a dog run that crossed the route of the hedge. Martin genuflected before him. |
Moira and Chris trimmed the hedge. Our efforts to lay the hedge in years gone by have really paid dividends. |
Andy pulled out a few logs and branches that had accumulated around the bridge. |
Sue the Rubbish walked up from Trebanos collecting litter, Anna, Cerys and Paul along the way. |
Tea was taken with fruit cake and sponge made by Alan & Jan W. Delicious! |
Andrew, Chris and Martin cleared weed around and atop Bridge 8. It needs to be spic and span for the plaque unveiling in a few week’s time. |
And finally, can you identify the object in the first photo? How could it have ended up there? Perhaps the second photo offers a clue. |
A lovely day to be out and about. Although we could not lay any more concrete bags we found lots of useful things to do. |
