Work Party: Tuesday 25th July 2023
For today, read “Same as last week, but with sun!”. The volunteers continued in a similar vein to last week, with lots of work in the Buried Lock site, some on the canal and some in Coed Gwilym park. The best news was that the sun shone all morning. In no particular order: |
Annette was once again tweaking her pedal powered paddle craft. She said she was pleased to be able to do so sitting down. |
Sharon and Chris added a few more metres to the clinker blocks along the bottom of the garden mound. |
In the garden, Martin continued with the planting. He needed to keep a careful eye on Cerys, his keen but useless assistant. |
Gordon built more wall above the new by-wash. |
Aled and JOhn fixed the tyres on one of our large wheelbarrows. |
Alan added more concrete blocks to the Lego blocks. |
More slag stones were added to the by-wash lining, initially by Andrew but it seemed like everyone was joining in by the end of the morning |
Sue chopped back excessive vegetation from the wall and canal bank just upstream of the lock. |
Colin, John Grav and Andy pulled an incredible amount of weed. They even donated some to a passing cyclist who said he needed it for his goldfish pond. |
Ronnie finished painting the railings in Coed Gwilym park and Dave tended to the gardens. |
Tea was taken with delicious cakes baked by Gill. |
And just because they are so cute, here is a photo of Anna and Cerys. |
It may have been “more of the same” today but it was a joy to be working hard in glorious sunshine. |
