Work Party: Tuesday 30th April 2024

The forecast for today was absolutely dire, so a somewhat depleted band of volunteers approached the canal alongside the Riverside Resource Centre with an air of foreboding. Surprisingly, the rain held off all morning, so we were able to reinforce another stretch of bank. Anna was on hand (or paw) to generally supervise operations and pester the life out of Mike with incessant demands to throw a ball!

Rowan, Lance, Alan T and Bob mixed the mix and filled the bags.

Andy trundled the bags along the canal, pausing only for a refuel and desperate measures to stop him from enthusiastically driving the wheelbarrow into the canal (mercifully, no incriminating photographic evidence).

Mike laid all the bags, with a bit of labouring assistance from John Grav.

Gordon sloped the bank down to the newly-laid bags.

Tea was taken with goodies lovingly crafted by Andy. We were really pleased that Whitethorns joined us.

We ran out of sand soon after the break so we had to have an early stop to the day’s activities. However, it was lovely to look back on another job well done.
