The New Chairman

The New Chairman

The new committee was elected on June the 25th.

Ken Brucknell, our chairman, has rocketed to the top after being a member for only one year.  But his qualities are obvious.  He has travelled the 45 minute car journey from Maesteg to work on the canal every Tuesday while the rest of us merely saunter down to the Mond canteen, half in and half out of our Paddington Bear pyjamas.

Ken has a life-time experience in shipping, training and management consultancy so if you want someone to teach the Captain and first mate of a tug boat to buff up on their interpersonal skills, Ken’s your boy.

He also works work with the educational arm of the  Canal and River Trust and is a Trustee of  the Swansea Community Farm. So quite a renaissance man.

His aims for the  Swansea Canal Society? Ken is targeting an increase in our volunteer numbers, getting boats of any sort back on the water, and searching out funding from all sources in order to restore the canal.

And so say all of us.
