Party In The Park
As our anniversary celebrations continue, we can give more details of another upcoming event: Party in the Park, Sunday 28th May. A family fun day in Coed Gwilym Park from 10am to 6pm. We are not only celebrating the 225th anniversary of the canal this year, but it is 70 years since the opening of Coed Gwilym Park, which took place in the coronation year for the late Queen. Thanks to grants from the National Lottery and Mynydd y Gwair Community Fund we can all celebrate the anniversaries, and the King’s coronation. Come along and enjoy lots of free activities, including canoes and kayaks on the canal, tennis with Swansea Tennis Centre, bowling and mini football. There will be lots of craft and food stalls (courtesy of 4 Seasons) and live music. The Heritage Centre will be open for cold drinks and Joe’s ice cream, and refreshments will also be available in the new Pavilion. The Ospreys will bring along an inflatable if you fancy a bounce! We are very grateful to Vale for generous sponsorship of this event and offering car parking at the Mond. So if driving to the event, please park at the Mond and walk, or better still leave your car at home and cycle or walk along the canal towpath to the park. We can now confirm the music acts who will be playing in our Party in the Park on Sunday 28th May. Music will kick off at 1pm with The Rock Project , at 2pm The Stripey Suits will keep us all rocking. We then have two local solo artists, Gemma Leanne Lawrence at 3pm with Tara at 4pm Finally bringing the party to a close we have SJ as Rag and Bone Man at 5pm. It promises to be a great afternoon. You are welcome to bring a picnic blanket or folding chairs as seating is not provided. Parking will be in ” The Mond ” car park except for blue badge holders who can use the car park in Coed Gwilym. Better still walk or cycle and leave the car at home so you can enjoy the beer stall! |
