THE CANAL BENEATH OUR FEET: (6) WALLS, GATES AND WOOD: 21.3.17

WP 21.3 (1)   Walls and confers came a’tumbling down today in the depot.          WP 21.3 (2)

On the left, the large gap in the southern wall shows the progress made by Gordon and his angle grinder as we congregate to admire his work.

On the right, David moves felled conifers away from the site of the new gates into the yard from St Benedict’s Church car park.

In the centre of the depot, a bonfire was lit to burn the pruned buddleia wood from the clearances two weeks ago.

Elsewhere, more shredded bark paths were laid in the Nature Reserve in Coed Gwilym Park by the pupils of Pen Y Bryn School. They also used the bark to mulch the plants in the garden bed behind the canoe store.  John Donovan, our Education Officer, is creating a great partnership between the Swansea Canal Society and the School.
