FIRST WEEKEND WORK PARTY IN PONTARDWE: SUNDAY 21.5.17

Sunday01

The weather conditions were perfect for the inaugural Pontardawe Sunday Working Party’ on the canal.  Michelle chose a very ‘public’ location at the Aqueduct near Herbert Street so all the volunteers received much support and numerous expressions of gratitude for their efforts from local residents passing by. The venue coud not have been better.

There were eight volunteers present,  and the work that was achieved in three and a half hours was amazing.  Debris, including 3 traffic cones and a toilet seat, was removed from the canal, the off bank was cleared of rampant unwanted vegetation and a potential ‘planting area’ was created.

Sunday02Sunday04 inspection John Jones launched his kayak to reach parts of the canal that  footsoldiers could not and nearly sank his kayak under the weight of stuff collected.

Here are two photos showing  ‘before’, and ‘after’ the clear up.
