Work Party: Tuesday 19th September 2023

Oh dear – rain stopped play! The work party today in the Buried Lock site was much depleted by holidays, hospital visits, the rugby world cup and the relentless, driving rain so work was restricted to the bare minimum.

Andrew had sharpened several of our tools. He found refuge from the rain by hanging them in the tool store.

Moira and Martin weeded the grass and invasive weeds in and around the informal wild flower beds at the top of the garden. The sedum is now in full bloom. When the beds were tidied up, they were joined by Dan from Trinity St David’s University and his friend Rowan. They edged the weeded beds with the many decorative local stones that litter the site, giving immediate definition and impact to the beds. A simple exercise which has made a great improvement to the garden.

John, Alan, Gill and Andy met in the site office to discuss plans for the opening ceremony for Phase One. Other than that, we had tea and ate some of the rolls and cakes provided by Ronnie before trudging home in the rain. Let’s hope for better weather next week.
