Work Party: Tuesday 2nd April 2024

In a repeat of last week’s activities, the volunteers made a two-pronged attack. One group repaired the bank on the canal at Riverside and the other gardened in Coed Gwilym Park.

At Riverside Lance, Rowan, Colin, Chris and John mixed the mix and filled the bags. Chris and Andy trundled them downstream a bit and Mike, ably assisted by Duncan, laid at least 100 of them. As we packed up after a long session we looked back on a job well done. Hard work, particularly by Mike, but well worth the effort.

Gordon cut willow trunks that will be used next week to construct a Nicospan barrier.

Tea was taken with a selection of Easter goodies baked by Andy.

Meanwhile in Coed Gwilym Park:

One of our boats had to be emptied of water. Bob and Aled set about slowly lifting and draining it, using items behind the canoe store to straighten it up.

David The Twig was busy chipping branches, creating an area for insects. Good sized pieces were placed into the fencing.

Weeding was completed by Sue, Moria, Christina and Ronnie. Dahlias have been planted and a note made of space left for new plants we wish to add to these colourful borders.

We were joined by Mike at tea break. Christina baked scones and a jam sponge, always welcome.

Another magnificent effort by both teams on a bright and cheery day. This split working makes the best use of our various talents.
