Work Party: Tuesday 26th November 2024

Today was chilly but bright and dry. The volunteers assembled at Bridge 8 with one task to tackle – the removal of a large tree that was blocking the canal above the bridge. Work continued both sides of tea. Andrew, John and Bob sawed away using hand tools from the off-bank whilst Alan worked from the towpath with Gordon and his (fairly) trusty chainsaw joining in after the break. The rest of the gang, with Rowan in “Nellie”, hauled out the brash and stashed it away over the fence. Time was against us so although the canal is flowing briskly there is still a bit to do to clear it completely.

Tea was taken with delicious cakes baked by Jan.

A good job nearly done. Alan is sorely missed: we are so pleased that Jan wants to continue the Williams’ family long and proud involvement with the Society.
