Work Party: Tuesday 24th March 2026

Another day, another dollar! A somewhat depleted cohort of volunteers were soon busy in the Buried Lock site continuing with last week’s tasks. Roxi was released from the shackles of fertility so Sue started the day by walking with her from Trebanos locks, collecting litter as they went. |
Gordon started of by attaching a shackle to the wall above the boat basin. This is to be used for dragging out leaves. Alan, sadly without photographic record, drove nails into the sleepers atop the lock, to act as a key for a concrete path. |
Gary and John heaved tons more of muck, mostly leaves, from the boat basin. More lovely compost for the garden. |
The gardening team of Christina, Diane, Jan, Moira and new recruit Jean carried on with planting on the bank, this time using material generously donated by the volunteers. |

Martin and Moira planted more saplings alongside the basin. |

Work continued on lining the by-wash walls. Lance mixed the mortar. James, Andy and Sue laid the stones. Anna and Roxi did their best to get in the way as much as possible. |

Time for a break. Bit of a cock-up on the catering front, so Christina had to go on a mercy dash to purchase much needed cakes from the Co-op! Anna and Roxi did their best to hoover up all the crumbs. |

That’s it folks. The garden is looking lovely and now it’s all hands on deck to get the site ready for our contractor to finish the lock gates and complete the groundworks. Nearly there! |
