Work Party: Tuesday 11th March 2025
This week the weather was bright and sunny but distinctly chilly. The volunteers attacked the canal on two fronts! One gang went to Bridge 8 to finish off repairing one of the wash holes. |
The mixers – Lance, Colin, Chris, Phil and Rowan. |
John Gr moved the bags in the motorised barrow. We will not speak of the incident…… |
Mike laid the bags before tea. |
And Alan continued after the break. |
Duncan manoeuvred the bags into place. |
And he finished off by backfilling the slope. |
Dave and Andy spent the morning cutting back bramble and picking up litter. |

We took our break in glorious sunshine. Margaret was on the top of her game with baking. |
Meanwhile, the horticultural department was at work at Hebron Road and at Coed Gwilym Park. |
Christina watering the newly planted mix of hawthorn and willow saplings outside the Swansea Canal Centre. |
Our new recruit, Pam, planting pansies by the new basin in Hebron Road. |
Sharon and John Gw planting more hawthorn and willow saplings in Hebron Road. Many thanks to Sharon who has been looking after the saplings in her own back garden ever since they were kindly donated by the Woodland Trust. |
Moira and Christina weeding the flower beds in Coed Gwilym Park. |
But the big news of the day was moving our trip boat from Coed Gwilym Park to its new home at the Swansea Canal Centre. Bob the Boat looks justifiably proud and the boat looks perfectly at home. |

The two groups worked hard today and made great progress. But the best bit of the day was seeing the boat in place. |
