Work Party: Tuesday 22nd April 2025
Two work parties today enjoyed slightly overcast but pleasantly mild weather as they set forth, one group in Coed Gwilym Park and the other in the Swansea Canal Centre. |
In the park, Dave made a great job of trimming the grass around the railings. |

Christina and Moira worked hard to tidy the flower beds, although there were occasional difficulties distinguishing between plants and weeds. |
Able seamen Mike and Duncan took to the water in the very stable platform of a double canoe. They hauled out sunken timber and cut back branches that John Gr, Sue and Andy tidied away. The cut is now much clearer for the canoes & kayaks. |

On the way back to base, they paused to admire a wonderful Easter display. |

Meanwhile, at the Swansea Canal Centre in Hebron Road: |

Gordon, Phil, Lance and Chris pulled weed from part of the channel using a rake and pulley system. |

John Gw and Martin used a rope across the cut to pull the drag rack into position ready for another sweep. |
Bob cleared residual weed from the boat basin. |

Sharon tidied the towpath and earthed-up some of the plants and shrubs. |
Coffee break started as a quiet affair before the gardening and canoeing contingent working at Coed Gwilym Park arrived (cakes by Margaret). |

The ancient mariners, Bob and John Gw, had a trial voyage from the boat basin to Pont John aqueduct after the weeds had been removed to create a channel. You can see a short video taken by Paul here. |
Two work parties working hard at two locations is the way to get the best out of our merry bunch of volunteers. Keep it up chaps! |
