TREBANOS LOCK
In persistent heavy rain we ferried the lime mortar mix over the canal to continue the erection of the by-wash wing wall. Everyone worked with a will and a lot of cursing. But this wall, although three times smaller than the tow path wall is getting a lot of favourable comment, largely due to it being much more visible to walkers and cyclists passing by.

‘Nellie’ the Dory is absolutuley essential as the canal is quite deep now with the incessant rain. The wall is constructed in such a way that the water is confined to a narrower channel and takes the silt with it rather than depositing it. The shallow deptth here has always been a problem for the canoes in summer.

Another two weeks and we should be moving to a new site to continue our restoration of the Clydach Lock.
