Work Party: Tuesday 2nd May 2023

The weather was gloriously warm and sunny today as the volunteers met in the Hidden Lock site to continue with tasks started last week.

Andrew was in charge of mixing the mortar. He seems happy in his work! Most of the vols worked on the stone wall in the by-wash. Great progress was made, although there is still a long way to go.

Sue, Alan T, John Grav and Andy pointed more of the dry dock. They are nearly done, so it will be watertight soon.

Gordon made a set of steps to ease access into the by-wash. Many of the vols objected to the implication that they were no longer as nimble as mountain goats.

Andrew brought in topsoil so that Martin could make a start on the green bank. Again, a long way to go.

Tea was taken with cakes provided by Andy. The sun was so hot that his tiffin nearly dribbled away. Sorry for the dreadful photo – yet another unexplained technology failure.

At the Swansea Canal Centre on Hebron Road, work continues apace. The first photo, taken on Tuesday, shows the stack of roof joists. The next two, taken by James Daley, were taken the following day. Job done! We are so lucky to have found James and his team. Their expertise and enthusiasm is unsurpassed.

Another grand day in grand weather. Well done everyone.
