Work Party: Tuesday 13th June 2023

Another scorching day, perhaps explaining the relatively small number of volunteers on parade. A more likely explanation is that many vols had a top-level meeting with the Ospreys team. Anyway, those that were at work were soon hard at it. Bob the Boat continued with has labours on the large boat in Coed Gwilym park (sorry Bob – no photo this week) and others sought the shade.

Sue, Moira and Andy bashed balsam downstream from Trebanos Locks. Lots done but, as always, more to do.

Gordon, Chris and Alan W tackled the silt bank just below the hidden lock site. They installed a Nico-span barrier and laid mesh above it. Gordon was then left with the unenviable task of shovelling the silt onto the mesh.

Meanwhile, in the full heat of the sun in the Buried Lock site, Malcolm, Sharon and others laid more stones on the by-wash wall. Sharon looks like she’s had enough for one day!

Sue helped Annette make further improvements to her wonderful contraption.

Tea was taken – Andy was the baker this week.

Probably a bit too hot to go at it full tilt, but we still achieved a great deal. Well done, everyone.

And finally, James Daley sent us these photos of the fantastic progress with the roof on the Swansea Canal Centre. Thanks to James and his team, the building will be complete in no time.

Tiling almost complete.

Solar panels in place.

Preparations for the green roof.
