“Lighting Up The Canal” Parade – 18th November 2023

“Lighting Up The Canal” Parade – 18th November 2023

This parade was the final major event of our “225 in 2023” celebrations. After an anxious wait for the weather to improve, we were blessed by dry if somewhat windy conditions for the parade.

The lanterns made at the five workshop earlier in the month, plus another twenty made by the artists, were collected by an excited bunch as we made ready for the parade.

The stars of the show were the three superb, large models made by SpaceToCreate.

The parade walked from Coed Gwilym Park up to the carved tree and back, with the horse leading us.

We are so grateful to the professionals, Glandŵr Cymru, the Society volunteers and, most importantly, the lantern makers and everyone in the parade, for making this event such a success. We hope you all had fun.

The whole day was recorded by Tantrwm – we can’t wait to see the finished film.

We are indebted to volunteer Steve for creating the video in this blog.
