Restoration of the Mond Lock in Clydach

Restoration of the Mond Lock in Clydach

Swansea Canal Society is very pleased to announce that it has successfully bid for funding from the latest round of the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund to restore the Mond Lock in Clydach.

The fund is administered by Swansea Council who have been extremely supportive to the society recently, giving us the backing to reopen the buried Clydach Lock and build a boat basin at the rear of the Swansea Canal Centre in Hebron Road.

This latest grant will mean we are one step nearer to restoring the canal to a navigable standard from Clydach to Trebanos, and bring us closer to our goal of running a trip boat through two working locks on a four mile round trip.

The Mond Lock, along with most of the Swansea Canal is owned by Glandŵr Cymru, the Canal and River Trust in Wales, and we look forward to working with them on this exciting project.
