Work Party: Tuesday 22nd July 2025
|
Peter and John Gw started the day at the Swansea Canal Centre where they fitted another shelf in the shower room but the rest of us headed to the Buried Lock site where the task of the day was to line the by-wash in readiness for the Waterway Recovery Group camp. Lance, John Gr, Mike and Phil mixed the concrete and filled the hessian sacks, including a novel sausage-like contrivance! Bob trundled them down to the by-wash where Alan, Chris B and Duncan laid them in neat lines either side of the channel. The WRG will lay the stone linings upon these bases. |

Just before tea, Mike and John Gr headed of to Coed Gwilym Park to run a session of canoe & kayak hire. The rest of us munched on lovely cakes baked by Jan, washed down with a cup of tea or coffee. Following on from the very successful Summer Craft Fair on Saturday, Sharon sold a few more raffle tickets for the lovely hamper and Duncan’s name was the first out of the hat! |
|
After tea, work continued on the bag laying as Gordon and Peter started to dig a hole to create a base for the paddle gear at the top of the lock. |

A great day’s work, particularly as it took us one step closer to completing the reconstruction of the lock. |
