A bit chilly but dry save for a couple of very brief showers for today’s exertions that proved to be a game of three halves! The second slab in the area behind the Canal Centre was laid. Lance and Gary mixed the concrete that Alan and James smoothed into the shuttering. |

Moira, Diane and Sharon planted another 80 trees along the towpath and in the hidden lock. Jan and Jean weeded and planted. |

Removing the tree blocking the canal by the cemetery took rather longer than expected. It started well with Gordon severing the trunk from the bank but his usually trusty pulley system failed miserably so we were reduced to sawing off manageable lengths and hauling them out manually. But we got there in the end – “leave nothing but a trailing painter”. |

Back at Hebron Road, there was a delivery of safety railings and tea was taken with superb snacks both sweet and savoury baked by Jan P. |

Hard labour today, but super fun! A bit chaotic at times but everyone pulled together (literally with the fallen tree) to make excellent progress. |
