The Swansea Canal Society is pleased to announce two successful grant awards from the Mynydd Y Gwair Wind Farm Community Fund, Round 18, 2026. The first grant, for £2,000, is to install an outdoor seating and garden area at the rear of the Swansea Canal Centre in Clydach, to allow schools, local groups, canal users and volunteers to have access to the outside area to enjoy the canal, and its flora and fauna. We are pleased to announce that this work has been completed. |

The second grant, for £11,762, is to have lock gate gearing and paddles manufactured and installed, in order to have fully functioning gates at both the Mond and Hidden locks in Clydach, that are currently being restored. This work will commence within the next six months. Restoring both locks to fully working condition is essential for the Society’s commitment to its long-term goal to run a trip boat from the Swansea Canal Centre to Trebanos Lower Lock and back in the years to come. |
