A Model of the Lengthsman’s Hut at Ynysmeudwy.

Left: The hut with a vegetable plot outside, vital in providing extra food for the lengthsman.
And this is the real thing! Restored in 1986 by the Swansea Canal Society
Below: The interior as it would have looked when the lengthsman lived there. A lengthsman looked after the section of canal between two locks.
William Evans, lock keeper, once lived here. It would have been a very hard life.
