A Model of the Lengthsman’s Hut at Ynysmeudwy.
Some great photos of Michelle Davidson’s fine model of the Ynysmeudwy Lengthsmans Hut at Lower Ynysmeudwy Lock.
Left: The hut with a vegetable plot outside, vital in providing extra food for the lengthsman.
Below: The interior as it would have looked when the lengthsman lived there. A lengthsman looked after the section of canal between two locks.
William Evans, lock keeper, once lived here. It would have been a very hard life.
