Canoe Training for 2015 Season
Simon Fenton gave us a day’s training today for
the volunteers. Many of our new recruits have
experience and qualifications in canoeing
so we are very lucky.
After an initial talk and some basic canoeing
techniques Simon showed us how to use a
throw line correctly.
Volunteers were given the chance to practice and here our two army cadets, Osian and Luke, who joined us today, along with other volunteers
This was followed by more practice on the canal.
We learned the best way to retrieve an upturned canoe, which was carried out flawlessly by Richard.
The upturned canoes were then landed on the bank.
