CANADIAN POND WEED REMOVAL AT THE MOND LOCK

CANADIAN POND WEED REMOVAL AT THE MOND LOCK

Several weeks have gone by since we started shifting the Canadian Pond Weed out of the channel above Clydach Mond Lock. The piles have mounted up and the time had come to move the piles off the towpath where they take the light from the grass underneath and cause it to to die off.  The Pond weed is a valuable fertiliser so we must not waste it. We took it today by barrow down the canal to the Buried Lock site where we have started a compost pile on top of some old builders waste  This will eventually be covered with top soil and enable us to plant alpines and rockery plants.
