“Easter Bunnies” – March 2024

“Easter Bunnies” – March 2024

Easter Sunday 2024 and here we go again with our “Easter Bunnies” event to welcome the new season of canoe and kayak hire on the Swansea Canal. Our chums in the Clydach Heritage Centre and the Community Pavilion joined in the fun in the relative warmth of a spring day – some sun and thankfully no rain.

The canoe team spent some time setting up……..

…..before the main event! We’ve rarely seen so many families paddling to Trebanos and back. Some were experts, some were first-timers, but everyone had fun and nobody got too wet.

Sharon and Sue ran our craft shop selling fantastic items sewn by Jan and bird boxes made by Lance.

John Gw used his magic to demonstrate how the canal bridges were built. Anna was perhaps not his most attentive pupil.

Hywel and John Grav dredged up a sunken canoe and returned it to the park. Anyone know who owns it?

A fantastic start to the season. The Society is so grateful to all its volunteers and, in particular, the community that supports us so generously at events like this. Our ambition is to maintain and restore the canal as best we can, all the while making it accessible and enjoyable for the whole community.
