S4C interview

Ffilmiau ‘Newyddion’ Camlas Abertawe

Work Party 25.11 (9)

That means ”Newyddion’ Films The Swansea Canal’ if you don’t speak Welsh. Newyddion is the magazine news programme broadcast every evening on S4C at nine. Tonight we are on it.

Work Party 25.11 (10)

Iolo James from BBC Wales and his cameraman visited us today both in Brownsters Cafe where Wayne, the owner, has festooned the walls with Swansea Canal photos and also on the canal at Clydach. We were working there with brushcutters, chain saw, and winches and pulleys to clear the canal of years of willow and buddleia growth. It was a magnificent team effort by about 16 of our volunteers and our friends from Whitethorns Day Care Centre.

Work Party 25.11 (14)

John Jenkins, a fluent Welsh speaker, was interviewed by Iolo both about the work we do  on the canal and also about the plans for the restoration of the canal through the Old Highways Depot in Pontardawe Road. We are very grateful to S4C and Iolo for this wonderful publicity.
