Go Canoeing Week: A Fitting Finale: 3.6.18.

Vets at Canoe week 3.6.18  National Go Canoeing Week came to a dazzling end on a glorious summer day at Coed Gwilym Park.  A record day for both the number of customers and takings as well as a great turnout later by the local vets who booked the canoes and kayaks en bloc after the public hire finished at 2.30pm.

All those who  completed the 2 miles there and back to Trebanos Locks entered their miles on the Go Canoeing Chart and Gill will send this to the  British Canoe Union with the venue shown as the Swansea Canal.  All good publicity. We must thank the Ponty Paddlers who give up so much of their free time to give basic instructions to all those who turned up to our canoe open day last Tuesday. Nor should we forget the Stand Up Paddle Boarders of SUP HUT who brought 4 paddle boards for the public to use on the same day.

Our continued gratitude goes finally to Gill Thomas without whose dedication there would be no canoes on the canal. Do  remember that we urgently need more volunteers to man the canoe store on summer Sundays.

If you are interested in helping, please contact Gill on 07835 440511.
