Our New CRT Team Leader: 20.6.17.

jade, rhodri, and gareth We were delighted to welcome our new Canal and River Trust Volunteer Team Leader to  Pontardawe last Tuesday. She is Jade Hester, pictured on the extreme left of this photo. She has taken over the role on secondment  for six months though this may become a permanent post. She has already ordered native wildflowers for us to plant this coming autumn along the canal which we had previously been paying for ourselves.  We are grateful to her for doing this. She will also be joining us when the Waterways Recovery Group Summer Camp come to help us at Upper Trebanos Lock in the week commencing 9.7.17.

Also in the photo are  CRT’s Rhodri Bowen who donned his wet suit and rescued many pieces of discarded local stone from the murky silt by Herbert Street bridge in Pontardawe. These can all be used to repair the canal bank. On the extreme right is young Gareth who just couldn’t resist a good photo opportunity.
