The Waite Family Goes Canoeing – August 2025

Jonathan Waite and his family clearly had a good day on the canal as he wrote:

Hi Swansea Canal team,

I just wanted to take the time to express how my family and I had an absolutely amazing time hiring the double-raft with the Swansea Canal Society on Sunday afternoon (17th August, 2025).

It was simply brilliant, six of us sat side by side and paddled together, enjoying a lovely outing along the scenic stretch to Trebanos lock and back. The serene surroundings, gentle pace, and open layout of the canal made it perfect for a relaxed family time. Even if we did keep veering off to the left!

All of the staff running the hire were friendly, helpful, and clearly organised. Everything ran smoothly, there was no need for advance booking, we just turned up and you were all ready to assist, helping us set off without delay. Safety was well managed, and the cost was amazing, offering excellent value for such a memorable experience.

This is the kind of local treasure that makes Sundays and Swansea special. A heartfelt thank-you to the Swansea Canal Society for providing such a friendly, affordable, and beautiful way to spend time together. We can’t wait to return soon.

We are so pleased that the family had such an enjoyable time. It means so much that our efforts are appreciated and acknowledged.

Don’t forget that our hire season continues on Sundays through to the end of September. Take a look at “Canoes” on our website.
