SUNDAY: NOVEMBER 23rd: Canoe Store Clean Up. Coed Gwilym Park CLydach. We will be cleaning the boats and stencilling them with the SCS lettering. Start at 10.30 for a couple of hours.
All welcome.
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 25TH: Work Party: Lights, Camera, Action.
We will be joined by Iolo James from the BBC who is filming a piece about the Swansea Canal Society for S4C’s news programme ‘Newwyddion’. Meet at Brownsters at 8.15 for make-up, run through and publicity interviews. Sorry, I jest (about the last three, only. No, just the last two. We always get our make-up done in Brownsters.)
We will be working between Clydach Aqueduct and Clydach Lock to get this stretch of canal up to an acceptable standard for visitors and locals alike. Another 100 yards to go. Work starts at 9.30.
WEDNESDAY: November, 26th: Institute of Waste Management Awards 2014.
We are pleased to have been short listed for the Community Award section of this presentation ceremony. Alan and Andy will be travelling to the Motor Cycle Museum, Solihull where they will be feted and fed and also meet like-minded litter picking charities. God speed and good luck, Andy and Alan.
WEDNESDAY: November 26th: 11.00 to 13.00 hrs. We will be collecting signatures at the Virgin Media Call Centre Llansamlet in support to the restoration of 100 yards of the Swansea Canal in Pontardawe Road, Clydach.
WEDNESDAY November 26th: We will be walking the proposed new route of the Swansea Canal from the confluence of the River Tawe with the Fendrod River up to the bridge under the M4 in Llansamlet. Time to be arranged but definitely in the morning. Probably around ten.
FRIDAY: November 26th: Work on the Canal Nature Reserve at Ynysmeudwy. Ed Tucker from NPT Wildlife Team will once again be leading a group of volunteers (including several of our own members) to clear vegetation from the lock in the Nature Reserve. All Welcome. Start at 9.30. Bring a packed lunch.
