The Week Ahead 29.6.14
Sunday 29th June: Canoe Hire at Coed Gwilym Park. Meet at 10.00am.
Tuesday: 1st July: Work Party: Meet at Brownsters Cafe between 8.15 and 9.10am. If you wish to make your way direct to the work site, we will be working at the Trebanos Locks from 9.30am. However, before starting work there we will have an informal meeting with Cassie Ward, the CRT Volunteer Co-ordinator, to discuss our future work plan which will be based on the jobs deemed by CRT and ourselves to be High Priority.
Date in July: To Be Confirmed: First treatment by CRT contractors on the invasive Japanese Knot Weed present the entire length of the canal from Clydach to the canal feeder stream in Ystalyfera. Follow-up action will take place in September.
Date in July: To be confirmed: The Aquaclear Weed Cutter will be with us clearing the congested parts of the canal along its entire length. It cannot, however, get into the section between The Mamas and Papas Night Club in Pontardawe up to Holly Street Bridge. Rhodri has offered his services in his Michelin Man wet suit to wade along the channel and cut all the weeds as long as he has help from us (or WRG volunteers) to rake the cut weeds into the side of the canal.
