The rain prevented us doing any lime mortar pointing or building on the new wall so all the emphasis was on digging back the existing line of willow withies to form a wider channel. We were joined by David Viner, the Heritage Officer of the Canal and River Trust and we all got on with the silt shifting. Experience has taught us a lot about Willow Weaving the hurdles and where to put them, so at last the finished product is beginning to look quite professional.

We were joined by the carers and day attenders of Whitethorns Day Care Centre and, as usual, ‘Gypsy’ from the stables insisted in getting in every picture.

Mike Clarke as always turned up with his trusty litter picker and he and John Allen continued hoovering up all the plastic and cans from Pontardawe to Clydach.
