WORK PARTY AT YNYSMEUDWY LOCKS: 30.1.18
IT WAS BACK TO BUSINESS THIS TUESDAY AFTER THE FUN AND GAMES OF THE OPENING OF THE NEW TOWPATH IN CLYDACH LAST WEEK. ALL TOWPATHS NEED MAINTENANCE AND THERE IS A LOT OF OLD TOWPATH THAT IS EXTREMELY MUDDY NORTH OF PONTARDAWE. IN PARTICULAR, THE SECTION NORTH OF THE YNYSMEUDWY LOCKS WAS IN NEED OF IMMEDIATE ACTION.
WE TOOK SHOVEL, SPADE AND DRAG FORK WITH US IN THE TRAILER TO THE CAR PARK NEXT TO THE YNYSMEUDWY ARMS PUB, CROSSED THE CANAL BRIDGE AND STARTED TO CLEAR THE MUD FROM THE PATH.
HARD WORK BUT IN SUCH SURROUNDINGS, VERY SATISFYING.
THIS IS A LOVELY SECTION OF THE CANAL AND WE WANT VISITORS TO BE ENCOURAGED TO WALK ALONG IT WITHOUT HAVING A MUD BATH. WE WILL BE BACK NEXT WEEK WITH OUR DIGGER TO CLEAR IT A LITTLE MORE QUICKLY AND THEN WE HOPE TO LAY STONE DUST AND COMPACT IT DOWN FOR A PUDDLE-FREE SURFACE.
