Work Party Saturday 16th March 2019

The call went out that Keep Wales Tidy had organized a community clean-up day for Saturday 16th March and local volunteers came out to do their bit. Youngsters from local schools, Paul and Michelle from the Canal Society and members of the Pontardawe Air Cadets gathered on the Recreation Grounds in Pontardawe at ten o’clock and got to work.

Paul and Michelle pulled a bed, a mattress(!) and other detritus out from under Pont Ynysmeudwy Isaf (Bridge No. 7) and then joined the rest of the gang for the litter pick.

In all, over fifteen bags of litter were filled, and will be taken away for disposal. Everyone gathered in the cricket pavilion for tea and coffee, and we had the customary group photo.

It was a very productive and worthwhile couple of hours, and a future event is planned in a few months time. Thank you everybody.
