Work Party: Sunday 4th February 2024

Unusually the Sunday work party team met at the Buried Lock site for the second consecutive weekend, but then our volunteers are always ready to step up when there’s urgent work to do.

This time it was to continue facing the new by-wash with stone. Previous posts have explained our need to progress this work, at least the bottom few mortar courses, before water flow is diverted into the channel.

Laying the stones on the day were Mike, Ronnie, Lance, Sharon and John Grav, whilst Alan T kept them supplied with mortar.

Great progress was made along a good section of the wall, and Gordon popped in to lend a hand too. The photos don’t do justice to the effort the team put in as the morning drizzle cleared to something rather more pleasant!

We’re back again on Tuesday for our final session at the site, when additional courses will be laid and any gaps in the pointing will be tackled. Then its over to our contractor while our volunteers get busy elsewhere.
