Work Party: Tuesday 11th August 2026

Another scorching day saw a three-pronged attack on the canal. First up, the gardeners, Christina, Diane, Jean and Moira worked their magic at the Swansea Canal Centre – sorry ladies, no photos.

At the Buried Lock site, Gordon and Pete mixed the mix for Alan and James to lay stones on the dividing wall between the boat and lock basins. Kev was their labourer and Gordon joined in after tea.

Upstream, Chris, Gordon, John and Tom dug a channel in the silt to allow the free passage of water running down the Kingrosia Brook. Not much flow at the moment – we need rain!

Pete and Andy dragged branches and general rubbish from the almost dry canal bed.

Tea was taken in the shade of St. Benedict’s church. Moira provided the sandwiches and cakes this week: delicious as ever.

Work continued after tea although your cub reporter left early. Well done everyone for persevering in the midday sun!
